New Orleans!
We just flew back from New Orleans, and BOY ARE MY ARMS TIRED. But seriously, folks. It was the first time I've been back to the US since I moved abroad, but I've never actually been to NOLA or spent any time in the South, so it was all new. Most importantly, the whole family - officially related or not - was gathered for my brother Aaron's wedding. I shot the wedding - what a pleasure - and there will be posts to come on that, but there was plenty of time for shooting around New Orleans as well. One of my favorite moments (photographically) was this guy lounging on a park bench, perfectly framed by the trees.Since it was about a million degrees at every moment of every day, it wasn't much of a surprise that there were plenty of beautiful plants. I shot these huge leaves on a couple of occasions and this is my single favorite.Shortly after seeing the park bench guy it was SO time for shaved ice. Yum!We took a short drive around the Lower 9th Ward, where there are just huge areas with...nothing. I found this lock on a gate across a church door. This shot was a happy accident - all of these people (my friends and family!) were lined up at the top of a small flight of stairs. I didn't give any direction, but made a mental note to ask people to do this in the future! There are many more shots in my New Orleans Portfolio, and watch for photos of Ashley and Aaron - coming up soon!
