How I shot it: London colleague, Catalina

Catalina is awesome, but before I started this series I didn't know exactly *how* awesome. Then I found out she secretly kickboxes! Well, that made the concept easy - of COURSE we had to do hers with her kickboxing gear.

Location

I wanted this to be outside, at night/twilight. Basically just wanted it to evoke a "I wouldn't want to meet her in a dark alley" feeling.

Lighting

This will come up again and again: I have one Speedlite, and a Lastolite umbrella. In this case, Sam held these while I shot Catalina, and Catalina held them while I shot Sam. We just did a nice side light and let Catalina do the rest.

Directing

Directing was easy; I just asked Catalina to keep her gloves up by her face (easy because that's normal in kickboxing) so they'd stay in frame, and then we played with shooting her straight on vs turning her shoulders, while revealing different amounts of her face behind the gloves. Then - action shots!

Post-processing

I did next to nothing here - just set up color/contrast, and cleaned up a little. Gabe added the caption - what could be better than "SEO, meet Pay-Per-Kick"?? Yay Gabe.
