Andalucia day 3 part 2: Morocco

This post is long, but who cares! I'm keeping it all in the above the jump.We took a day tour of Morocco with a Spanish tour company called FlandriaBus. This worked out about...oh...a bazillion times better than I thought it would. For about 60 Euros apiece, we got our round trip ferry ride, followed by a trip to Tetouan and Tangiers and back in a large van, with a guide who has been doing this for 30 years or so.The boat left Algeciras (maybe a 15 minute drive from where we were staying in La Linea), boud for Cueta, which it turns out is a tiny Spanish enclave in Morocco--kind of like Gibraltar is a British enclave in Spain. So we landed and were then driving across the border to Morocco (in our tour bus) in a matter of minutes. Our first stop:I generally shy away from things that seem "touristy" but my trip to Morocco in the summer was intense to say the least, plus we only had one day...and well, once I'm on board with something, I'm usually 100% in. So, we paid a Euro each to ride a camel.I'm pretty amused by how the camel and I are making the same face here.We continued on to Tetouan and walked through the market, where there was a great assortment of things for sale, including live chickens. This is one of my favorite photos from the whole trip. That chicken looks like she's thinking "Hey wait a minute, what's going o...BUGOCK!"The light was really interesting; it seems that it often is in North Africa. Sometimes the sun made it through the narrow alleys to the good below; sometimes not. Great colors. Most walls were were whitewashed with lime, and parts were painted really cheerful colors...Got this strangely secretive shot in the narrow alleys...gives a good feeling of a medina. There's something around every corner. At some point we drove on to Tangier (some of the above photos may be from there; hard to tell). Lefteris did a killer job of bargaining for a rug at a large shop there; I took only one frame inside, I guess because I was trying to act cool so I wouldn't drive up the rug price! But I couldn't be happier with this shot--so lucky. The pile of rugs on the floor on the right are ones they've already shown us that we didn't like. This floor is tile, by the way.Later on, we stopped for coffee at the hotel where they filmed a lot of Casablanca, which was of course not in Casablanca. But they did have some nice photos of Humphrey Bogart on the wall. :)Later: Day 4: GibraltarEarlier:Day 3 part 1: Algeciras port and ferryDay 2: the mountains and the coastDay 1 part 2: GranadaDay 1 part 1: Alhambra
