Ireland, only two months late!
This year for our birthday (back in August), Katie and I managed to swing a situation where we were both in London (for work). So, with Jordan and Lefteris, we took a long weekend in Ireland to celebrate. We flew into Belfast, rented a car, and drove on the wrong side of the road all over the place. We tried to see some ancient mounds but it was really just too much work for vacation. So instead we took photos from a parking lot. It was all so green! We went to the Guinness factory in Dublin...The light up there, at the top of the Guinness factory, was awesome. If you zoom waaaaaay in you can see every cloud in the sky reflected in Katie's eyes.Lefteris joined us one night later, and after we picked him up we really got to driving. We stopped in a tiny town and made friends with a dog and its owner, and then he directed us to a nice walk along the river...Then we made it out to the Cliffs of Moher, which UTTERLY BLEW MY MIND. Seriously. For Princess Bride fans, which should be pretty much everyone, they are the Cliffs of Insanity! This is where they shot that! I don't think I've ever seen anything quite so dramatic. Unfortunately a camera, from atop the cliffs, really doesn't do them justice.Lefteris caught these two shots of me, both of which I really love because I think they reflect how I felt up there. I do like the geometry here.We drove out to what may or may not have been the moors. We kept driving, and just magically passed this castle at sunset...The castle was sitting on a small hill next to a lake, or inlet, which was FILLED WITH SWANS. Thanks, Ireland! And there was a couple watching the sunset! Sheesh. The next day, we drove past this. I was at the wheel and I pretty much screeched to a halt, pulled over to the side of the road, and jumped out of the car.And then, on the way to the airport, we passed a Demolition Derby. I mean REALLY. We ate hot dogs......and rooted for Motorhead!Awesome trip. :)
