As artistic mediums go, photography is one of my newer ones; I didn’t start as a child, but instead I got interested in 2007, when I was doing a lot of traveling. It was pretty obvious that I couldn’t bring a piano with me, and most of my paintings are fairly large scale (and require many layers, so plenty of time), so that didn’t make much sense either. Taking knitting needles on planes is out (?!?1), too…so I decided to give photography a try. Since then, I’ve evolved to focusing on creative and environmental portraiture – along with travel photography, although having two small kids has dramatically lowered the amount of time I can spend walking around with a free hand (or two). I do shoot weddings from time to time, and I love creative portrait sessions.
